Never in our lifetimes has it been more apparent that we, collectively need to change how we live as rapidly as possible. The design of this village is made up of concepts that are not new to most of us, however within the current design of our urban environments we are limited as to how far we can go with greening our lifestyle. The design of the village allows for those boxes to be ticked; by harvesting our own rain water we collect and filter water providing chemical free water to our homes and eliminating the need for chemical water treatment by treating and sequestering our own greywater onsite. Incinerating toilets, while omitting carbon create the least problematic solution to our lake catchment area of aquifers and streams networking across the hills and flats of our beautiful caldera. Should you like to see the environmental output I have documents I can send you. And should you drive one, Ecars will be able to park under a carport topped with solar panels to use the car as the battery. Regenerative land principles will improve our soils fertility and its ability to sequester not only precious water but also carbon as we build our soil hummus . As a village we will share common sense resources like a laundry, a meeting house with modest kitchen allowing those that choose, to cook together. A simple workshop will allow for dust and industry and a clean space that could be rented as a treatment space. A common orchard will be planted throughout the green corridor to allow for fruit to be sheltered, watered and enjoyed in all seasons. All with health promoting benefits of a clean, nourishing environment with social benefits at our fingertips should we choose to invest.
Each home will have enough outdoor space to create privacy and enjoy your own garden. With a shared orchard and garden amongst the green corridors that will provide more food as the village matures. Rainwater harvesting, swales, soil health improvement, mulching and our grey water treatment area of Native plants will maximise our ability to sequester water. Composting and the use of natural soil regenerative principals will also contribute to a healthy and diverse ecosystem in the soil and the plants own biology
